Ride 52: Ava Loop
Biking Illinois: 60 Great Road Trips and Trail Rides
Ava, IL
July 19, 2005
Starting and ending in the quiet town of Ava, this hilly ride contrasts nicely with the nearby Gorham Floodplain ride.

Don't turn here unless you want to ride a gravel-strewn road with lots of trucks!

This narrow, hilly road is hardly typical of Illinois.

I think these are grapes. There are several wineries in southern Illinois.

This photo of Kinkaid Lake was cropped to be vertical for inclusion in Biking Illinois.

State Route 151 is named Kent Keller Highway for a local congressman.

Returning to Ava, one is greeted by an image of the gazebo where this ride started.

I had to stop to take a picture of these awesome clouds.

These old railroad signs mark a path where the tracks used to be in downtown Ava.
